After Mr & Mrs Thomas’ children had grown up and flown the nest the Thomas’ decided to update their 1990’s detached home based just outside of Cardiff in a place called St Fagans.
Being a relatively new home the walls, doors and ceilings were all clean and modern therefore not needing updating or replacing. So when speaking to neighbors and friends who live close by recommended us, they took a look at what we had achieved and how just a little imagination and planning can result in complete transformation with minimum fuss.
We had installed oak parquet blocks herringbone style to their entrance hallway with a coir mat well cut out. Kept the warmth of the blocks by applying a hard wax oil thus bringing out the warmth and grain of the oak.
By using the hard wax oil it gives the customer the benefit of removal of scratches that may occur over time, plus by using a natural product it enhances the grain of any wood and gives it a water or stain repellant finish.
Just because you have new build doesn’t mean you cannot add character.
The Thomas’s wanted more character so we showed them a double wedge boarder strip (which is two dark strips of wood 10mm thick running around the boarders), however we all thought that the hall was to narrow for that and went for a single wedge strip instead.
