Before any sanding or restoration of any wooden floor there is the fitting, whether its replacing or refitting your pine floorboards or refitting a double wedge border herringbone style parquet, Hamwoods can help. This is where close consideration to what company you choose is imperative, i.e, guarantees.

Unfortunately, we now live in a world where the meaning of the word guarantee is either over looked or just not even mentioned by local tradesmen. the amount of jobs we have been called out to to put right because of poor works or the right preparation was not carried out in the beginning, i.e.; floor slabs were not primed prior to the installation of your expensive exotic hardwood floor causing the adhesives to fail or breakdown as soon as moisture or temperature levels change. This can be very costly labour intensive job to put right that did not have to happen. another no no is when lazy tradesmen do not leave expansion gaps around the perimeter of the room and door jams. all solid wood will expand and contract through out its life and believe us they will.

Before any fitting or installation begins a full inspection and moisture reading of sub floor should be carried out and assessed. This simple procedure is free and could save you not just money but the heartache and displeasure of having to rectify and in worst case scenarios completely renew your beautiful new floor. This is where the experience and knowledge of our fitters at Hamwoods will shine.

We believe that the only time you call us back is when you need either a new floor or just to give your floor a spring clean (see aftercare) and of course just advise on how to look after your wood floor.

All our fitters are fully time served carpenters/joiners who have always worked with wood and know the difference between a good job and an exceptional job. In some cases, we have been known to be too fussy when it comes to standards of work, but if that’s a bad thing then we may as well employ labourers.
